PWHL Montreal selected Walter Cup champion Abby Boreen, choosing her 17th overall in the third round of the 2024 PWHL Draft.

Abby Boreen won the PWHL's Walter Cup with Minnesota. She's set to re-enter the PWHL next year, this time as a draft pick in front of her home fans, friends, and family.

PWHL Montreal made a major addition adding championship experience through the draft selecting Abby Boreen 17th overall in the 2024 Draft.

Boreen won a Walter Cup with PWHL Minnesota last season as the big bodied forward appeared in nine regular season games and five playoff games for Minnesota as a reserve.

She is currently enrolled in a pharmacy program in Minnesota, but will now move to Montreal joining a forward group including Marie-Philip Poulin, who announced her pick in Minnesota.

The former University of Minnesota captain had five points in nine games last season for Minnesota, and added an assist in the playoffs.

In her senior season with Minnesota, Boreen scored 21 goals and 36 points in 36 games.

According to the PWHL hockey operations department, Boreen's "PWHL experience is valuable, with a demonstrated ability to compliment top players, kill penalties, and be a scoring threat. She brings energy on every shift and is fearless when going to the net.”
