"Something is coming."
That's the message according to PWHL Boston's social media post. That "something" is coming on September 9.
Each PWHL team across the league removed their team colors Thusday, posting a generic logo in place, and each shared a social media post teasing September 9 with a phrase.
For Montreal it was "Something is calling."
New York stated they were "Turning the volume up."
Minnesota's said, "A cold front is rolling in."
Ottawa wrote, "Bringing the energy."
While Toronto said they were "Almost ready to rule the rink."
All were dated September 9, 2024. After more than a year of waiting, it appears fans will soon know the names and logos of their teams. It's a point PWHL senior vice president of hockey operations spoke to in a media conference this week saying they'd be announced "very, very soon."
Last winter six names were trademarked by the PWHL including Boston Wicked, Montreal Echo, New York Sound, Minnesota Superior, Ottawa Alert, and Toronto Torch.
Those names were met with fan backlash, causing the PWHL to take another look at team names and logos.
