Ally Simpson is a poised and reliable defender who is capable in all three zones. In short, she's a player many teams will target at the 2024 PWHL Draft.

Allyson Simpson is one of the top available defenders from the NCAA in the 2024 PWHL Draft.
The right shot blueliner recently finished a stellar career with Colgate University and alongside Hannah Bilka could become the first products of Texas to play in the PWHL.
Simpson has a hard and accurate shot from the point, but more importantly, she's a steady defender in her own zone and in shutting down the rush. She's physically capable of competing in corners, as a net front defender, and along the walls.
This season Simpson made her senior national team debut with USA at the Rivalry Series and showed herself as capable in handling the pace and physicality. She makes smart decisions with the puck and is a strong passer.
There's not a lot of flash in Simpson's game, but she is poised and reliable in all three zones. The steady defender has represented USA at the Rivalry Series, Collegiate Series, and two IIHF. U-18 World Championships, winning gold at both.
Although Simpson's calling card is her steady defensive play, and physicality, she showed offensive growth in each of her seasons at Colgate culminating in a career high nine goals and 34 points in 40 games this season.
Simpson is the type of defender who would benefit many teams in the PWHL, particularly a club like PWHL New York who needs not only another right shot blueliner, but one who can defend and benefit the offensive without taking unnecessary risk.
