Megan Keller might be from Michigan, but she's Boston through and through, and is set to challenge for the PWHL's first ever title.
LOWELL, MA – Despite being born and raised in Farmington, Michigan, Megan Keller knows her second home will forever have her back.
None other than Boston, Massachusetts.
As one of the top defensive players in the country at North Farmington High School heading into her college career, Keller decided to attend Boston College, enjoying an impressive four year campaign.
After multiple seasons with the PWHPA, Keller found herself back in Boston in 2023, joining the PWHL Boston team.
Now, just three wins away from potentially raising the Walter Cup as the inaugural PWHL champions, Keller is preparing for an exciting two game homestand in front of the Boston faithful, including a probable sold-out crowd for Game 1 on Sunday.
“All year, our fans and the support that we have had here in Boston, they always show up,” said Keller on Saturday. “We are excited to have home ice in these first couple of games, and hopefully do our fans proud.”
With 15 points in 24 games played this season, Keller has made her mark known for Boston, with her 11 assists being tied for the most among her team, and having the second most points overall, behind Alina Müller, despite being a defender.
Alongside Keller in Boston is United States national team teammate Hilary Knight. Due to their extensive familiarity overseas, Keller knows that having Knight by her side has made huge dividends this season, and will certainly help further in the finals with everything on the line.
“It’s not a secret, when the big games come, Hilary Knight is always going to be an X-factor, I’ve been apart of a few where she’s had a hat trick or game-winning goals,” said Keller. “It’s an honor to have her on our team, and I know that makes the rest of this group so confident to have her as our leader.”
With netminder Aerin Frankel coming off of an unbelievably impressive semifinals campaign versus Montreal, Keller knows Frankel will take Boston as far as they can go.
“She’s (Frankel) is honestly probably one of the most important players on the team,” said Keller. “She’s been lights out all year, and I think that’s just a testament to who she is, how competitive she is. With her behind us, it always makes everyone feel so confident. We are lucky to have her.”
No matter what happens in the best-of-five series versus Minnesota, Keller knows she will always be Boston through and through.
