    PWHL Minnesota forward Sophia Kunin is hanging up her skates. The 27-year-old Minnesota product officially announced her retirement on social media today.

    "As a little girl, I could have only imagined where my love for hockey would take me in life. For the last 20 years, the game of hockey has brought me so many unforgettable memories and experiences, but I am ready and excited to move on to the next chapter in my life," she wrrote.

    "I could not be more grateful to everyone who has been a part of this journey. From my family, teammates, coaches, support staff and fans, I would not be where I am today without all the support and encouragement."

    Kunin helped PWHL Minnesota win the inaugural Walter Cup this season. 

    She had two goals and three points in 24 regular season games and added a goal in 10 playoff games.

    Kunin spent four seasons with the PWHPA prior to the PWHL's launch. Before that, Kunin captained the University of Wisconsin to a national title, and also won gold as a member of Team USA's U-18 national team at the U-18 World Championships.
