PWHL Ottawa signed Lexie Adzija, the 65th overall pick in the 2023 PWHL Draft to a standard player agreement.

PWHL Ottawa has signed their first player following the inaugural PWHL Draft inking 65th overall pick Lexie Adzija. Terms of the deal were not immediately released.
Adzija, who had originally signed a one-year $60,000 contract with the PHF's Metropolitan Riveters this offseason, becomes only the second player, alongside first overall pick Taylor Heise to sign following the draft.
According to Ottawa general manager Mike Hirshfeld, the organization is excited to secure the 5-foot-10 St. Thomas, Ontario product.
"Lexie is a younger player who is emerging on the Canadian National level," said Hirshfeld. "She is a physical player who wins face offs and will really help us on the penalty kill. A true power forward that other teams will hate playing against."
Adzija has been part of Hockey Canada's national team selection camps in recent seasons. The 23-year-old captained Quinnipiac in the NCAA last season and has previously represented Team Canada at the U-18 World Championships.
When Adzija signed with the Riveters, she was described by then head coach Venla Hovi as "a strong and determined young athlete who wants to go far in hockey. She is hard to handle around the net and she is always looking to find the back of the net. Lexie is hardworking and disciplined and she will thrive having experienced players around her.”
Ottawa selected Adzija in the 11th round, 65th overall in the PHWL Draft.
