PWHL Toronto will enter the 2024-2025 PWHL season with perhaps the deepest forward group in the league, a trait that will serve them well in year two.
PWHL Toronto was already a force to reckon with last season. Their +19 goal differential was by far the best in the PWHL last season, and all Toronto has done is get stronger and deeper, particularly up front.
They brought their forward group to 12 by re-signing Hannah Miller on the opening day of free agency, a move that further boosted their depth at forward.
Then, Toronto went out and signed Emma Woods from New York.
But they didn't stop there inking the top free agent on the market, Daryl Watts.
Their depths is almost confusingly robust. No team in the league will be able to even approach their forward depth or talent level.
Projected Toronto Forward Lineup
Not only did Toronto retain all of their top scorers from last season, they were able to add Julia Gosling and Izzy Daniel as potential top six scorers, although Daniel could also provide third line scoring if Toronto shifted Blayre Turnbull to the right wing. They followed that up by signing Watts, who was 9th in the PWHL last season in scoring, and Emma Woods. You can see Toronto building for a beginning without Natalie Spooner down the right side as they have Turnbull, Daniel, Neubauerova, Compher, Linser, and Woods who can all play right wing.
Down the lineup, Toronto is not only skilled, but they're big and physical. Anneke Linser and Gosling are both 5-foot-10, and the 5-foot-8 Neubauerova plays with grit and physicality in her game.
One thing is certain, it won't matter what line PWHL Toronto puts on the ice next season, they'll have four lines capable of scoring when the season opens. The only question mark remains Natalie Spooner's timeline for return.
With or without Spooner however, Toronto will field the deepest forward lineup in the PWHL.
