    The PWHL's Player Safety Committee announced today they've suspended Toronto forward Brittany Howard for one game. 

    "The incident reviewed was a cross check to the back of the head of a Montréal defender at 17:28 of the second period in Toronto’s game against Montréal on Mar. 8" read the PWHL's release. Howard cross checked Montreal defender Catherine Daoust.

    In addition to the suspension, Howard, and fellow Toronto forward Rebecca Leslie, have been fined $250 each. The fines were imposed for actions during an altercation at 8:06 of the second period against Montréal, where Howard and Leslie, each grabbed the facemask of an opposing player.

    The PWHL Player Safety Committee monitors all games and is responsible for providing independent review and recommendations on supplementary discipline. Chaired by Jayna Hefford, PWHL Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations, the committee also includes Cassie Campbell-Pascall, PWHL Special Advisor; Katie Guay, a current NHL and AHL on-ice official; Mike Murphy, a long-time NHL executive and former VP of Hockey Operations; Matt McMahon, a member of the NHL’s Player Safety department.
