The PWHL logo has been known for some time, but the league formally unveiled their new logo and the meaning behind its elements this week.

The PWHL's official new league logo was leaked last week after it was found in the US Trademark Database, but the league itself revealed the logo this morning, nicluding describing the meaning of the stylized "W".
“We love the prominence of the ‘W’ used in a clean and strong design that celebrates PWHL trailblazers and their legacy across women’s sports,” said Stan Kasten, PWHL advisory board member. “When people see the logo, they will recognize how it represents women and immediately know it’s about hockey. The ‘W’ symbol speaks for itself but offers versatility to fit nicely when used inside our PWHL lettering.”
The logo itself will be purple, "a color that signifies power and is often associated with ambition, both symbolic of PWHL players and the league’s formation."
The logo itself features a prominent "W" as well as crossed hockey sticks. According to the PWHL, [t]he crossed hockey sticks in the central apex of the ‘W’ provides the visual of a face-off. This element was chosen to illustrate a new beginning in women’s hockey, in the same way a face-off takes place at the beginning of every game."
This week, six players, one from each team revealed a portion of the six parts of the logo, a number used to symbolize the original six teams in the league.
The logo itself was created by Baltimore based Younts Design Inc.
