The Pacific Coliseum is home to PWHL Vancouver. Not also home, just home. The venue in Vancouver will be the PWHL's first ever primary venue, a significant milestone for the league.

This week as primary tenants across North America were eliminated from playoff contention, we saw logos go down on the ice in Boston and Ottawa, but with only two games left in their season, and no guarantee the teams make the playoffs.

In Vancouver, the logo for the team, and branding for the league will be on the ice from day one, and fill the arena from top to bottom. The league's branding and marketing of a single, primary venue, will allow them to partner with more sponsors, and build a stronger, more permanent base in Vancouver.

Last week the PWHL also announced a pair of rescheduled games during their crucial stretch run with playoff positioning on the line. The reason for the games being switch in Minnesota and New York were related to playoff games scheduled long after the PWHL had finalized their own schedule for NHL teams. Being a primary tenant will ensure the league is not rescheduling games last minute to accommodate other teams and leagues.

Within hours of the expansion announcement, PWHL executive vice president of business operations Amy Scheer announced the team had sold out their premiere season ticket deposit positions and were continuing to sell season ticket deposits for the venue.

The neighbouring PNE Agrodome will serve as the team's practice facility as well.

Scheer: "It's A Pretty Big Step For Us"

For the PWHL, it's a first, and as stated throughout the expansion process, logistics, including professional venues, were a primary factor when examining potential expansion markets.

"This is a first for us to be a primary tenant in a building," said Scheer. "Which will really allow us to maximize options around our schedule, really allow us to maximize our business...so we're excited for that, we're excited to have that first opportunity for our league going into our third season, it's a pretty big step for us."

The PWHL is rumored to be looking at Seattle for their second expansion market. There would be no primary venue available for the PWHL in Seattle.

Looking at the PWHL's Takeover Tour stops, Quebec City's Videotron Centre would be another potential primary venue for the league. In Denver, the league could choose the Denver Coliseum as a home venue to avoid Ball Arena.
