In what could be the most impactful reserve signing in the PWHL, PWHL Montreal is reportedly bringing in Melodie Daoust for her first 10-day contract of the season.
Daoust, 32, is a former Olympic Games MVP, World Championship All-Star and Best Forward, two-time Olympic gold medalist, and a World Championship gold medalist.
An injury at the 2022 Olympics put the brakes on her career, but at the time Daoust was considered one of the best offensive forwards in the world.
Daoust practiced, as reported by Pat Laprade, on a line alongside Marie-Philip Poulin at Montreal's practice Friday morning, and is expected to join the team for their game against Boston on Saturday.
Last year Daoust returned to the ice playing 11 games for Team Scotiabank in the PWHPA scoring eight points in 11 games.
Daoust has been hesitant to join the PWHL due to shared custody of her son, and as she works with the women's hockey program at Bourget College.
