According to a report by Hailey Salvian of The Athletic, PWHL Minnesota general manager Natalie Darwitz is leaving the organization.

It comes only days after PWHL Minnesota won the first ever Walter Cup championship and Darwitz's induction to the IIHF Hall of Fame, and days before the PWHL Draft and first PWHL Awards ceremony.

Darwitz, 40, signed the PWHL's first player prior to the inaugural season inking forward Kelly Pannek, before signing future Hall of Famer Kendall Coyne Schofield who was instrumental in getting the PWHL off the ground. Darwitz also was the individual who made the first-ever draft selection in PWHL history choosing Taylor Heise first overall in 2023.

This season Darwitz completed the first trade in PWHL history sending Susanna Tapani and Abby Cook to PWHL Boston in exchange for Sophie Jaques.

Darwitz is not only a recent inductee to the IIHF Hall of Fame, but is also a member of the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame and considered one of the greatest players in women's hockey history. As a player she won multiple NCAA titles with the University of Minnesota, was a four-time World Championship All-Star, and an Olympic All-Star, serving as captain of Team USA leading them to gold on multiple occassions.

    More to come.
