The PWHL announced their finalists for the 2025 PWHL Coach of the Year award. It's a list that includes Montreal Victoire coach Kori Cheverie, Toronto Sceptres coach Troy Ryan, and Ottawa Charge coach Carla MacLeod.

According to the PWHL's news release, "The PWHL Coach of the Year award is presented to the head coach whose contributions most impacted their team’s on-ice success throughout the regular season."

All three coaches are in their second full season as head coaches in the PWHL with Troy Ryan winning the inaugural PWHL Coach of the Year award after guiding PWHL Toronto to a dominant 2024 regular season.

Kori Cheverie guided Montreal to their first regular season title finishing the season with a 12-7-3-8 record and 53 points. The Victoire had the best road record in the league with a .556 winning percentage, and tied for tops in the league on home ice at .622.  The Victoire were the first PWHL team this season to clinch a playoff spot.

Ottawa head coach Carla MacLeod helped guide her team to their first ever playoff berth posting a 12-4-2-12 record advancing from the bubble of missing the playoffs, to a third place position heading into the post season. Ottawa did all of this despite missing their second leading returning scorer Katerina Mrazova for half the season, as well as losing starting netminder Emerance Maschmeyer part way through.

The final candidate, Toronto's Troy Ryan also had injuries on his roster to manage missing Sarah Nurse and Natalie Spooner for significant periods of time. Toronto finished second overall with 48 points and a 12-3-6-9 record this year. Toronto also had the league's top power play functioning at 25.8%.

The 2025 PWHL Coach of the Year will be named at the 2025 PWHL Awards ceremony scheduled to take place June 25 in Ottawa.
