The Seattle Torrent were the first team to officially announce a signing and protection for the PWHL expansion process as they signed veteran Alex Carpenter.

The Seattle Torrent today announced that forward Alex Carpenter has been re-signed to a three-year PWHL contract through the 2028-29 season.

The signing officially protects Carpenter from the PWHL's Expansion Roster Distribution Process.

A three-year PWHL veteran, Carpenter was one of Seattle's first five signings last year. The 32-year-old Massachusetts product played all 30 regular season games last season tying Julia Gosling for the team lead with 20 points, including a team high 12 goals.

Carpenter also helped Team USA win gold at the 2026 Olympics in Milan. She's a three-time Olympian and seven-time World Championship gold medalist.

Carpenter sits tied for third all-time in scoring with 63 points (31G, 32A) in 80 games.

She began her PWHL career signing with the New York Sirens where she played two seasons before being left unprotected last year during expansion resulting in her signing with Seattle.

All teams must submit their three protected players to the PWHL by 5pm on June 3.
