Danielle Serdachny wants more. She's known as a big game scorer, a playmaker, and as one of the most consistent offensive producers in women's hockey. Her first season in the PWHL with the Ottawa Charge didn't go exactly as planned, which is why Serdachny is looking forward to a fresh start with the expansion PWHL Seattle.

"I'm looking forward to the new opportunity here," said Serdachny.  "I mean, from a personal standpoint, I'd say it was more on the disappointing end. Didn't have as much of an impact as I hoped I would in my rookie year. But I think this fresh start will be really really good for me, and a new opportunity to play under a new staff and with new teammates, and just hoping I can contribute in any way I can."

Serdachny, who scored the golden goal in overtime for Canada in 2024 against USA, has made a name for herself with her on ice vision, and game breaking ability. At the NCAA level with Colgate, Serdachny scored 132 points in 80 games across her final two seasons. It's why her eight points in 30 games as a rookie with the Ottawa Charge surprised many.

With Ottawa however, Serdachny was underutilized being buried on their fourth line and moved from her natural position at center to the wing. The lack of opportunity Serdachny was given certainly set her development back by a season, and took the confidence out of a player many predicted to be one of the PWHL's top players from day one.

From day one in Seattle, Serdachny, who hails from Alberta, will get that opportunity, and it's one she's excited to get in the PWHL.

"Obviously, I'm incredibly honored to be one of the first members of PWHL Seattle," Serdachny said. "I've heard nothing but great things about the city, and just seeing how the fans there rally around the different teams gets me really excited and obviously to be on the West Coast and closer to home is a huge honor for myself, and something I take a lot of pride in. So really looking forward to it."
