The New York Sirens played defender Maja Nylén Persson on long-term injured reserve following an injury she suffered March 16 against the Minnesota Frost.

Nylén Persson suffered an upper body injury that will not only keep her out in the coming weeks, but also threatens her appearance for the 2025 World Championships where Nylén Persson was scheduled to represent Sweden.

Nylén Persson was the 10th overall selection in the 2024 PWHL Draft. She was the three-time reigning SDHL Defender of the Year and has represented Sweden at two Olympic Games and five World Championships.

This season, the 24-year-old had two goals and six points in 23 games from the blueline.

To fill their roster, New York signed defender Olivia Knowles to a standard player agreement. Knowles is coming off a 10-day contract with New York, and has already appeared in 10 PWHL games this season for the Sirens.
