Minnesota Frost fans held their breath during Thursday's 5-2 win over the Ottawa Charge, not for the score, but for the health of defender Sophie Jaques.

Midway through the third period Jaques was injured following an illegal hit behind her own net from Ottawa Charge forward Mannon McMahon. McMahon stuck out her hip clipping Jaques who fell awkwardly. McMahon was assessed a two minute minor for the hit.

According to the Minnesota Frost, Jaques is undergoing an MRI today to ascertain the severity of her injury. Jaques was sitting among Minnesota's team leaders in points this season. While McMahon's contact appeared to be with Jaques' lower body, she was holding her left shoulder. Coach Ken Klee also stated Jaques was taken to hospital following the game.

Last season Jaques had 10 points in 15 games with the Frost after being acquired from the Boston Fleet in exchange for Susanna Tapani. Jaques added five points in 10 playoff games helping the Frost to a Walter Cup title.
