According to The Associated Press, the Ottawa Charge and the PWHL have reached an agreement for the team to play its games at the Canadian Tire Centre, home of the NHL's Ottawa Senators, starting next season.
The Ottawa Charge will be calling the Canadian Tire Centre home, according to reporting by John Warrow at The Associated Press. An official announcement will be made "in the coming weeks," according to this report.
Following the city's approval of changes to the team's current home, TD Place, which would see a reduction of around 3,000 seats as part of Lansdowne 2.0, and a well-received move to the Canadian Tire Centre for its postseason run, the Charge will be permanent tenants of the building, which it will share with the NHL's Ottawa Senators.
Despite the team's four postseason home games being moved from the smaller, roughly 8,000-seat TD Place to the larger, more than 18,000-seat Canadian Tire Centre, Ottawa fans showed up and averaged 13,416 per game. Of those home games, two were record setters: 13,112 on May 8, followed by a new record of 16,894 on May 18.
The move would help ensure the organization's long-term future in the city, and, with the Senators already well into discussions about a move to Lebreton Flats, another move back downtown alongside them could very well be part of the plan.
