With training camp only days away, here's a look at the top players still unsigned (or at least still unannounced) in the PWHL.
Odds are, many of these players are in fact already signed, but with only hours before training camp opens, a number of prominent players have yet to be announced by the PWHL.
Boston and Ottawa have nearly finished their rosters, with Boston signing 19 players and Ottawa 17. Other teams still have many signings to make, or at least announce.
Here's a look at the top players still to sign.
In Montreal, Erin Ambrose, the team's first round pick has yet to be announced, and following her injury with Canada, if it is a long term issue, it could impact her status. Ambrose is a likely candidate for one of Montreal's two remaining guaranteed three-year contracts. Montreal has yet to announce the signing of a single defender including Ambrose, Czechia national team standout Dominika Laskova, and Isobel Cup champion Kati Tabin who were their top defensive selections.
Toronto has signed five of their top six draft picks, but have yet to announce a contract for veteran Natalie Spooner. Spooner, who was a league mandated fourth round pick due to her compassionate circumstances application, was absent from Canada's Rivalry Series roster this month as well. Also unsigned in Toronto is former Canadian national team member Victoria Bach.
New York also has unsigned national team members as the team has yet to announce a contract for Canada's Jamie Bourbonnais and Corinne Schroeder, the team's second and sixth round picks. They also have not signed French national team standout Chloe Aurard. Two of those players are expected to secure New York's final two guaranteed three-year deals.
While most of Minnesota's heavy lifting is done, they still only have one defender under contract, and beyond that player, Lee Stecklein, their options on the blueline thin drastically. Their next highest picked defender was NCAA grad Maggie Flaherty, followed by USA national team member Natalie Buchbinder, and Minnesota Whitecaps veteran Sidney Morin. Minnesota also has to sign Denisa Krisova, Czechia's leading scorer from their bronze medal performance at the World Championships.
On the free agent side of things, the top unsigned players remaining include Madison Packer, who will attend camp with New York, and Mikyla Grant-Mentis who will attend camp with Ottawa.
