Toronto has hired long time Finnish national team general manager Tuula Puputti to work in their Hockey Operations department.
Sources confirm that Toronto's PWHL team has hired Finland's Tuula Puputti to a management role in their Hockey Operations department.
Puputti has served as the general manager for Team Finland's senior national team since 2013 winning two Olympic bronze medals with the team, while collecting three World Championship bronze and a silver medal in that time as well.
As a player, Puputti was a netminder, winning two NCAA national titles with Minnesota-Duluth, along with one Olympic bronze, and three World Championship bronze representing Team Finland.
The hiring of Puputti to Toronto's PWHL front office opens a door to the plethora of Finnish national team members who will become free agents following this season including Noora Tulus, Ronja Savolainen, Emilia Vesa, Sini Karjalainen, and Jenniina Nylund, along with superstars Petra Nieminen and Viivi Vainikka who will be free agents the following year.
Puputti's contract with Team Finland expired at the end of September, opening the 45-year-old for the new opportunity in Toronto. Her role in Toronto will involve game day operations, communications, and business development.
