Shiann Darkangelo, captain of the Isobel Cup champion Toronto Six is the first official offseason re-signing by the reigning PHF champions. Darkangelo agree to terms on a two-year contract with the Six, although financial terms were not disclosed.

“The league is growing and I’ve been committed to the Six since the beginning of the franchise. Just being a part of the PHF and this ownership group, I want to continue to do what I can here in Toronto,” Darkangelo said in a team press release.

“I love our set-up [at Canlan Sports - York] and the direction we’re going. Winning an Isobel Cup this year, it just feels right to continue to stay here and try to build for a back-to-back [championship]. I definitely wanted to be here in Toronto to do that.”

The 29-year-old forward had a career best 25 points in 24 games for the Toronto Six this season, and was named the Six's recipient of the PHF Foundation Award given to players who make a positive impact in their community.

The Brighton, Michigan product was the league's top performer in the face-off circle this season, and is a two-time Isobel Cup champion, including this past season, having previously won a title with the Buffalo Beauts.

“Shi is the ultimate pro in our league," said Angela James, General Manager of the Toronto Six. "She is the leader who is not only a true professional, but is also paving the way for new talent to understand what it is going to take to be a professional hockey player. Through her leadership, she is a great mentor for the young players and we are ecstatic that she is returning to lead the T6.”

Darkangelo is a former member of the US national women's team, and is an alumni of Quinnipiac of the NCAA.

While one Isobel Cup title in Toronto is great, Darkangelo hopes to build a dynasty in Toronto.

“My goal is to win the Isobel Cup again this season, so that’s what my sights are set on,” Darkangelo said. “I will enjoy the cup when it comes back to Michigan this summer, but I’m already focused on next season and hoisting that cup again.”

Toronto now has two players under contract for the 2023-24 season with Darkangelo joining forward Daryl Watts who is entering the second year of a two-year agreement.
