The PWHL is headed to Vancouver. The league officially announced their expansion plans for a PWHL team in Vancouver beginning in the 2025-26 season. The new Vancouver PWHL team will play out of the Pacific Coliseum.
It's the league's first primary venue in any of their markets, a selling feature brought up several times in the league's expansion announcement.
PWHL executive vice president of business Amy Scheer discussed the reasons for the PWHL's choice of Vancouver stating clearly that the city and province of British Columbia have "shown a remarkable commitment to growing the game of hockey."
Scheer mentioned the venue, PWHL Takeover Tour response, social engagement, corporate support, and the Pacific National Exhibition, who operate the Pacific Coliseum.
Here are Scheer's comments on the decision to make Vancouver the PWHL's first ever expansion market.
