Caileigh Tiller hockey highlights from the 2023 Esso Cup When it comes to finding the complete player, Caileigh Tiller projects as close as it comes to that definition. The 2008 born St. Catherines, Ontario product was a standout for the national champion Stoney Creek Sabres U-18 team this season playing up an age group. In the regular season, she finished second in team scoring with 44 goals and 93 points in 71 games, but it's her all around game that has her NCAA programs already keeping her coach busy answering inquiries. "Caileigh is probably the most complete player, 200 foot player, with the highest compete level, I know," said Taylor Abbott, head coach of the Stoney Creek Sabres. At the 2023 Esso Cup, those attributes were on display with Tiller playing special teams and being relied upon defensively. On the backcheck, she provided back pressure, and found herself and her stick taking away lanes. Tiller is dogged in pursuit, and spends a significant portion of her time in the offensive zone in movement. She cycles herself from high to low, on the powerplay often buzzing the back post looking for a cross crease pass. Tiller could also be found creating havoc in front of opposing netminders. Overall, Tiller does so many small things right, it leads to offensive output and defensive reliability. "You take a puck from her, she's hunting you to get it back," said Abbott. "She's a player when she's on the ice, her feet don't stop moving the entire time. She a big strong player with one of the hardest shots I've seen in women's hockey." Tiller finished the 2023 Esso Cup tied for second in tournament scoring with 10 points in seven games trailing only her teammate Madison Burr, who was named tournament MVP [https://thehockeynews.com/womens/other-news/madison-burr-named-esso-cup-mvp].
