Firebirds one game away from Western Conference Finals

The Coachella Valley Firebirds won Game 2 of their second round series against the Ontario Reign, putting them one win away from the Western Conference Finals.

Coachella Valley now lead 2-0 in their best-of-five series.

After losing to Hershey in last year's Calder Cup Final the Firebirds' experience has them poised to advance to the final four.

Their depth has been apparent, they have eight goals from seven different skaters through the two games of this series.

Devin Shore leads Coachella Valley in playoff points with six in six games, Max McCormick, Cale Fleury, Marian Studenic, Shane Wright, Andrew Poturalski, and Cameron Hughes all have five points.

Chris Driedger's stellar play this season has continued, he has a .924 save percentage this series as the Firebirds have been outshot 66-43 through two games.

On the Ontario side their three leading scorers from the regular season, T.J. Tynan, Samuel Fagemo, and Charles Hudon have combined for four points in two games.

The three Reign youngsters, Akil Thomas, Tyler Madden, and Alex Turcotte will be depended on to step up and help provide offense to avoid elimination.

Ontario will need more from goaltender Erik Portillo, who led all goaltenders in save percentage heading into this series.

Game 3 goes at 7pm EST Sunday May 19th in Ontario.
