Vote to be held May 30th

Per Craig Morgan of PHNX Sports the AHL Board of Governors will vote later this month on a proposal made by the Tucson Roadrunners to play 14 of their home games at Mullet Arena during the 2024-25 season.

24 of the 32 members of the AHL Board of Governors will need to vote in favor of the proposal for it to pass. The vote will be held May 30th.

With the recent relocation of the Arizona Coyotes franchise to Utah questions have arose about the relationship with their AHL affiliate Tucson Roadrunners.

The Roadrunners remain under ownership of former Coyotes owner Alex Meruelo.

Morgan reports that the games would be split between Mullett and Tuscon Arena, with the AHL requiring the games be played in pairs at the same site, no back-to-back games in different arenas.

The Roadrunners reportedly have two more years on their lease at Tucson Arena, complicating the negotiations.

Mullet Arena is the arena at Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ., that is home to the Sun Devils hockey and other sports teams. The Arizona Coyotes played their home games at the arena through the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons.
