The Anaheim Ducks announced they have assigned defenseman Tristan Luneau to their AHL affiliate San Diego Gulls.
Luneau has zero points in six games with the Ducks this season, he is averaging 16:33 of ice time per game.
The 20-year-old missed most of last season due to a knee infection but he registered three points in seven games with the Ducks and two assists in six games with the Gulls.
A second round pick of the Ducks in 2022, Luneau won QMJHL Defenseman of the Year in 2023 after posting 20 goals and 83 points in 65 games with the Gatineau Olympiques.
The Ducks boast a plethora of young defensemen including Pavel Mintyukov, Olen Zellweger, and Jackson LaCombe, their strong play and the emergence of Zellweger have contributed to Luneau being sent down.
Luneau's first chance to play with San Diego comes Nov. 2 against the Abbotsford Canucks.
