21-year-old will join defending Calder Cup champs next season

The Hershey Bears announced they have signed former Brandon Wheat Kings captain and forward Brett Hyland to an AHL contract for the 2024-25 season.

A 2023 seventh round pick by the Washington Capitals, Hyland lead the Wheat Kings in both goals and points last season, with 32 and 59 respectively.

In parts of five seasons with Brandon, Hyland recorded 75 goals and 145 points in 195 games, as well as six points in 10 playoff games.

After serving as an assistant captain for parts of two seasons the Edmonton, AB, native was named captain in February after Brandon traded Nate Danielson.

Hyland signed an ATO with Hershey at the end of the WHL season but did not appear in any games.

Despite great speed and skill Hyland is not afraid to mix it up physically and will bring a high energy game to the AHL. He will have lots of veterans to learn from as he joins the back-to-back defending Calder Cup Champions.
