Calder Cup champion and former Hershey Bears defenseman Chase Priskie has signed a one-year contract with Sibir Novosibirsk of the KHL, Priskie confirmed via LinkedIn.
The 29-year-old had a career best 12 goals and 35 points in 61 games with the Bears last season.
A sixth round selection of the Washington Capitals in 2016, Priskie led the 2024 Calder Cup playoffs in assists by defensemen and tied for the scoring lead among all defenders. His 14 points in 20 games helped the Bears win the second of back-to-back Calder Cup.
The Pembroke Pines, Fla., native has 50 goals and 164 points in 314 career AHL games with the Bears, Charlotte Checkers, Syracuse Crunch, Rochester Americans, and San Diego Gulls. He is pointless in four career NHL games, all with the Florida Panthers.
Priskie's rights were dealt to the Minnesota Wild at the end of June in a deal for Declan Chisholm. He did not come to a deal with the Wild and would now count as a veteran in the AHL.
A stellar puck moving defenseman, Priskie was one of the top remaining AHL free agents and is another example of AHL veterans who have signed in Europe.
Prior to his time as a professional Priskie notched 116 points in 154 NCAA games for Quinnipiac University. He served as captain for two seasons and was named to the ECAC All-Rookie Time, Third All-Star Team, Second All-Star Team, and First All-Star Team over his four seasons.
