Monsters looking for their first CF appearance since 2016
The Cleveland Monsters are up two games to none against the Syracuse Crunch in the Calder Cup Playoffs, putting them one win away from the Eastern Conference Finals.
Cleveland (then the Lake Erie Monsters) last advanced to the Conference Finals in 2016 when they went on to win the Calder Cup. Syracuse last made the Conference Finals in 2017.
The Monsters have been getting offense from their defense, David Jiricek is third on the team in scoring with four point sin six games, while Marcus Bjork has three points in four games.
Gage Goncalves leads the Crunch with six points in seven games while Alex Barre-Boulet has five.
Crunch goaltender Brandon Halverson has had a solid playoff run so far with a .916 save percentage, but he is being outplayed by Cleveland goaltender Jet Greaves, who leads the playoffs with a remarkable .951 save percentage.
Cleveland defeated the Belleville Senators three games to one in the second round to advance to this series while the Crunch won a grueling five game series against the Rochester Americans to get here.
Game 3 goes tonight at 7pm EST at the Upstate Medical University Arena in Syracuse.
