

The Detroit Red Wings announced they have reassigned forward Michael Brandsegg-Nygard and defenseman Axel Sandin-Pellikka from the SHL's Skelleftea AIK to the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins.
Sandin-Pellikka notched 12 goals and added 17 assists in 42 regular season games before adding another goal and seven assists in 11 playoff games.
The 17th overall selection in the 2023 draft, Sandin-Pellikka is a dynamic skater and puck mover.
He has amassed a number of SHL awards in his two seasons with Skelleftea including most goals by a U20 defenseman in league history, the 2024 Salming Trophy As SHL Defenseman Of The Year, and 2025 Swedish Junior Hockey Player Of The Year.
The 20-year-old won World Junior Championship Best Defenseman at the 2024 and 2025 tournaments, totaling 16 points in 14 WJC games, capturing the 2024 Silver Medal, and was named to the 2025 Tournament All-Star Team.
Brandsegg-Nygard recorded five goals and 11 points in 42 games before adding four goals and six points in 11 SHL playoff games this season.
The 15th overall selection in 2024, Brandsegg-Nygard is a crafty player with non-stop compete. His style of play should translate well to the North American pro game.
The Oslo, Nor., native recorded five points in five games for Norway at the 2024 World Juniors and has represented his country at the D1A World Juniors and Olympic Qualifiers this season.
The Griffins have clinched a Calder Cup Playoff spot and are currently in position for a first round bye, poised for a Division Semifinal matchup against the Texas Stars.
Both players will provide a significant boost as Grand Rapids look to capture their first Calder Cup since 2017.
