The Detroit Red Wings have recalled goaltender Ville Husso from the Grand Rapids Griffins under emergency conditions.
Husso was placed on waivers and sent to the AHL on Oct. 13 after allowing four goals on 14 shots in his first start of the season.
Since being sent down Husso has been fantastic with Grand Rapids, recording two wins in two starts and making 10 saves on 11 shots in one game of relief. He has a 1.23 GAA, a .958 SV% and one shutout.
Red Wings goaltender Alex Lyon suffered a lower body injury yesterday, opening the door for Husso to return.
Husso is expected to backup Cam Talbot for tonight's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs and start tomorrow against the New York Rangers.
The 29-year-old is in the final year of a three-year contract that pays him $4.750 million annually.
