The Florida Panthers announced they have recalled goaltender Chris Driedger from their AHL affiliate Charlotte Checkers.
Driedger will now serve as the back-up to Sergei Bobrovsky after the Panthers dealt Spencer Knight to the Chicago Blackhawks in a deal for Seth Jones yesterday.
The 30-year-old has a 10-6-6 record with a 2.97 GAA and .878 SP this season. He backstopped the Coachella Valley Firebirds to the Calder Cup Finals last season.
Originally a third round selection of the Ottawa Senators in 2012, Dreidger has played 67 career NHL games, posting a record of 31-24-5 with a 2.45 GAA and .917 SP. He played two games for the Seattle Kraken last season.
The Winnipeg, Man., native has played 212 career AHL games with a 105-75-19 record, 2.73 GAA, .911 SP, and eight shutouts.
Driedger had the AHL's best save percentage in 2019, was an AHL All-Star in 2020, and won a silver medal at the 2022 World Championship with Team Canada.
Florida signed Driedger as a free agent in 2019, he was selected by Seattle in the expansion draft before re-signing with Florida last summer.
