The New Jersey Devils announced they have hired former Abbotsford Canucks head coach Jeremy Colliton as an assistant coach.
Colliton has spent the last two seasons as head coach in Abbotsford, leading the team to identical 40-25-0-7 records and to the second round of the Calder Cup Playoffs both years.
During his time with Abbotsford the Canucks graduated several players to Vancouver who became regulars on the NHL roster, including Nils Aman, Nils Hoglander, Phil Di Giuseppe, Noah Juulsen, and goaltender Arturs Silovs.
Colliton was drafted as a player in the second round of the 2003 NHL draft, amassing six points in 57 NHL games, before racking up 203 points in 326 games in the AHL.
The 39-year-old has been coaching professionally for 10 seasons, including parts of four seasons as Head Coach of the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Alberta native is the first member of Sheldon Keefe's new coaching staff.
