Former Toronto Marlies forward Max Ellis has signed a one-year contract with Mikkelin Jukurit of Finland's Liiga.
Ellis signed with the Toronto Marlies in 2022 after completing his third year at the University of Notre Dame. In three seasons with the Fighting Irish Ellis scored 22 goals and 45 points in 71 games.
The 24-year-old played two full seasons in Toronto and registered 14 goals and 34 points in 87 games. After a strong rookie pro season in 2022-23 Ellis took a step back this season and only appeared in 36 games.
The Plymouth, MI, native should play an offensive role and receive more opportunity on Jukurit.
Jukurit's press release notes that Ellis looks to return to North America with the goal of playing in the NHL after one season.
Ellis' contract rights were traded to Dallas along with a seventh-round pick on June 29th in exchange for the rights to Chris Tanev.
