44-year-old joins after seven seasons as Head Coach at Northern Michigan University

The New York Rangers and Hartford Wolf Pack have announced that they have hired Grant Potulny to be to new Head Coach of the AHL's Wolf Pack.

Potulny joins Hartford after seven years as Head Coach with Northern Michigan University where he accrued a record of 128-113-17, winning WCHA Coach of The Year once and leading the team to the CCHA Finals twice.

Internationally, Potulny has been an Assistant Coach with Team USA at four World Junior Championships, winning a gold medal in 2013 and 2017, as well as a bronze in 2018.

As a player, Potulny was selected in the fifth round of the 2000 draft by the Ottawa Senators, never playing a game in the NHL. He registered 145 points in 297 career AHL games. He won back-to-back NCAA Championships as captain at the University of Minnesota in 2002 and 2003, winning tournament MVP in 2002.

The 44-year-old is now responsible for helping develop the Rangers top prospects and building on the success the Wolf Pack had this season, where they lost in the Atlantic Division Final to eventual champion Hershey.

Hartford lost former Head Coach Kris Knoblauch to the Edmonton Oilers in November, and replaced him with Steve Smith on an interim basis.
