Hershey defeats Cleveland in Game 3 of ECF 6-2
The Hershey Bears are now one win away from reaching back-to-back Calder Cup Finals after defeating the Cleveland Monsters 6-2 in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
The defending Calder Cup Champion Bears are looking just as dominant as they were last season, pushing their playoff record to 9-1.
Their playoff clutch factor was on display after the Bears won both Game 1 and Game 2 in overtime.
Hershey is getting key contributions from all over the lineup. Ethen Frank has goals in six straight games, Chase Priskie has a seven game point streak where he has recorded nine points, and Garrett Roe has a six game point streak where he has scored eight points.
In a series that features the two best statistical goaltenders in the AHL playoffs, there have been lots of goals. The Bears have outscored the Monsters 14-8 in three games.
Cleveland goaltender Jet Greaves was leading the Calder Cup Playoffs in save percentage heading into this series, but has allowed 14 goals on 90 shots against for a lowly .844 save percentage. He was pulled after the second period of Game 3 in favor of Malcolm Subban, the Monsters need Greaves to rebound to extend the series,
Conversely, reigning AHL Most outstanding Goaltender Hunter Shepard has continued his solid play, posting a .911 save percentage so far in the series. He has played the most minutes of any player in the playoffs and has a 9-1 record.
A must-win Game 4 for the Monsters gets underway at 7pm Thursday night at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland.
