
The Hershey Bears defeated the Coachella Valley Firebirds 3-2 in Game 5 of the Calder Cup Finals, putting them one win away from capturing their second straight Calder Cup.
Coachella Valley came out strong and opened the scoring on a goal from Kole Lind, but Jimmy Huntington evened up the score with just over a second left in the first.
Ryan Winterton and Hardy Häman Aktell traded goals in the third before Huntington scored his second of the game to secure the win for Hershey.
Huntington continued his strong playoff performance with two goals in Game 5. He now has five points in the series against the Firebirds.
Winterton has also had a coming out party in the finals, four of his five goals and five of his ten playoff points have come in this series.
Hunter Shepard had a strong game for the Bears, stopping 24 of 26 shots against as he looks to capture his second straight Jack A Butterfield Trophy for AHL Playoff MVP.
Heading into the finals the Firebirds were a perfect 6-0 at home in the playoffs, they have now lost twice at home to the Bears after Games 4 and 5.
Hershey won back-to-back Calder Cups in 2009-10 and look to win two Calder Cups in a row for the third time in the franchise's history.
Game 6 and Hershey's first of two chances to capture the league title gets underway on Monday at 7pm at Giant Center in Hershey.
