    31-year-old retires after nine year AHL career

    Iowa Wild forward Steven Fogarty announced his retirement from professional hockey in a statement on his personal Instagram account on Monday after nine seasons. 

    Fogarty was drafted in the third round of the 2011 draft by the New York Rangers, he ended up playing 31 career NHL games and recording three points for the Rangers, Buffalo Sabres, Boston Bruins, and Minnesota Wild.

    The 31-year-old played parts of nine seasons in the AHL with the Hartford Wolf Pack, Rochester Americans, Providence Bruins, and Iowa Wild, registering 106 goals and 268 points in 464 career games. 

    Fogarty served as captain with the Hartford in 2019-20 and Rochester in 2020-21, as well as his final two seasons in the NCAA at Notre Dame. 

    A winner in his junior career, Fogarty was a Minnesota state high school champion with Edina, a BCHL champion with Penticton, and a NCAA CCHA champion with Notre Dame.
