The Laval Rocket announced they have signed goaltender Luke Cavallin to a one-year, two-way AHL contract for the 2024-25 season.
Cavallin spent the majority of last season with the ECHL's Newfoundland Growlers, posting a 15-6-3 record with a .915 SV% and 2.95 GAA. He also appeared in nine games for the Toronto Marlies and had a 3-4-2 record and .884 SV%.
The 23-year-old originally signed a two-year AHL deal with the Maple Leafs organization in June 2022 after four seasons with the OHL's Flint Firebirds.
Born in Swindon, Great Britain, Cavallin put up stellar numbers with the Growlers in his first pro season, posting a 24-9-1 record and .917 SV%, he followed that up with a .925 SV% in six playoff games as the Growlers lost in the conference finals.
Standing at 6'2 and a rare right-handed catching goalie, Cavallin has the tools to be a good AHL goalie this season. He will compete with Hunter Jones, Jakub Dobes, and Connor Hughes for playing time.
