The Los Angeles Kings announced they have sent goaltender Pheonix Copley to their AHL affiliate Ontario Reign and recalled goaltender Carter George on an emergency basis.
George joined the Reign on Apr. 6 following the conclusion of his OHL season with the Owen Sound Attack.
The 18-year-old made his professional debut with Ontario, appearing in two games and posting a 2-0 record with a .984 SP, 0.50 GAA and one shutout, making 60 saves over his two starts.
A second round selection of the Kings in 2024, George posted a record of 17-22-6 with a .909 SP and 3.75 GAA in the OHL this season.
This move will give the young goaltender a chance to be around the Kings during the playoffs and gain valuable experience while allowing Copley to re-join the Reign where he started the majority of the games this season.
Copley had a 24-17-1 record with a .904 SP and 2.49 GAA with the Reign this season.
The 33-year-old has 279 AHL appearances and 17 Calder Cup Playoff games under his belt and is better served starting for the Reign than serving as the third goalie for the Kings.
The Reign begin their first round playoff matchup against the San Jose Barracuda Thursday Apr. 24.
