The Milwaukee Admirals defeated the Coachella Valley Firebirds 7-2 in Game 4 of the Calder Cup Playoffs Western Conference final, winning their first game of the series and forcing a Game 5.
The Admirals had only scored four goals total in the three previous games of the series, nearly doubling their total in Game 4.
Milwaukee scored early and often, getting contributions from players throughout their lineup. Wade Allison opened the scoring, his first goal of the playoffs.
Roland McKeown and Fedor Svechkov each had three points, Phil Tomasino, Ryan Ufko, and Joakim Kemell each had two points. Milwaukee got goals from six different goal scorers.
There were not many bright spots for Coachella Valley but Logan Morrison was able to score his first of the playoffs.
It was a rare off night for Chris Driedger who allowed six goals on 32 shots. Troy Grosenick stopped 23 of 25.
The Admirals notched two powerplay goals on five attempts, while the Firebirds went 0/2.
There were lots of fireworks in the final minute of the game as several fights and scrums broke out. Three Admirals and five Firebirds players received 10 minute misconduct penalties, while McKeown and Cameron Hughes got five for fighting.
The Admirals have an improbable task in front of them, but can make the series interesting if they play anywhere close to the way they did in Game 4.
Game 5 is Saturday at 6pm Eastern in Milwaukee.
