21-year-old has struggled defensively in NHL, will play big minutes with Laval

The Montreal Canadiens announced they have loaned defenseman Logan Mailloux to their AHL affiliate Laval Rocket.

The 21-year-old had one goal and two assists in five games with the Canadiens this season. Mailloux has struggled with the defensive side of the game so far this season and is a -4 while averaging 16:30 of ice time per game.

The Belle River, ON, native has shown promise offensively, posting two goals and two assists in two games with the Rocket this season.

Mailloux recorded 47 points in 72 games with Laval and picked up one assist in one game with Montreal in 2023-24, his first professional season.

With Kaiden Guhle set to return to the lineup and Justin Barron considered day-to-day Montreal has options on defense, giving Mailloux the chance to work on his game with Laval.
