Erne split time between the Edmonton Oilers and Bakersfield Condors last season

The New York Rangers have signed forward Adam Erne to a professional tryout, meaning he will attending training camp with a chance to make the team.

The 29-year-old split last season between the Edmonton Oilers and Bakersfield Condors, notching two points in 24 NHL games and 12 in 36 AHL games.

In 379 career NHL games with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Detroit Red Wings, and Edmonton Oilers Erne has 41 goals and 91 points.

The former second round pick has been more productive offensively in the AHL, recording 47 goals and 105 points in 195 games.

In his 24 NHL games last season Erne threw 68 hits, finishing 18th in the NHL in hits/60.

A New Haven, Conn., native Erne has a chance to turn his hard-nosed play style into a bottom-six role with the Rangers, he could help fill the void left by Barclay Goodrow's departure.
