28-year-old had 20 points in 30 games in first season in Ontario

The Los Angeles Kings announced they signed defenseman Joe Hicketts to a one-year, two-way contract through the 2024-25 season.

The 28-year-old had 20 points in 30 games for the AHL's Ontario Reign during the regular season and has followed it up with six points in eight Calder Cup Playoff games.

Originally signed by the Detroit Red Wings as an undrafted free agent, Hicketts played for Detroit, the Grand Rapids Griffins, and Iowa Wild before joining Ontario.

A smooth skating, puck moving defenseman, Hicketts will be a key piece of Ontario's blueline for the rest of the playoffs and next season.

Hicketts won the Gold Medal with Canada at the 2015 World Juniors and took home the 2016-17 Calder Cup with Grand Rapids.
