Kunlun Red Star of the KHL announced they have signed former Ottawa and Belleville Senators forward Rourke Chartier to a one-year contract for the 2024-25 season.
Chartier scored two goals and three points in 37 games with the Ottawa Senators last season, as well as 13 points in 19 games in the AHL with Belleville.
Originally a fifth-round selection of the San Jose Sharks in 2014, Chartier played 13 NHL games with the club then largely played in the AHL before playing a career-high number of NHL games last season with Ottawa.
In 241 career AHL games with the San Jose Barracuda, Belleville Senators, and Toronto Marlies, Chartier has 69 goals and 148 points, as well as 12 points in 20 Calder Cup Playoff games. He has three goals and four points in 56 career NHL games.
Chartier is a WHL Champion with the Kelowna Rockets where he also finished as a First Team All-Star. He took home the 2014-15 Brad Hornung Trophy as WHL's Most Sportsmanlike Player and CHL Sportsman of The Year the same season.
Consistently a productive offensive player in the AHL, Chartier played well with Ottawa but elected to play in Russia for more reliable playing time instead of bouncing back and forth between leagues in North America.
