Ian Goodall/Goodall Media - Ottawa Senators Sign Goaltender Michael Simpson to AHL Contract

The Belleville Senators announced that they have signed former London Knights goaltender Michael Simpson to a one-year, one-way AHL contract for the 2024-25 season.

The London, Ontario, native backstopped his hometown Knights to an OHL Championship victory before losing in the Memorial Cup Final to the Saginaw Spirit.

The 21-year-old posted a 34-10-1 record with a 2.61 GAA and .905 save percentage in the regular season before registering a 15-2 record and .908 in the OHL playoffs.

Simpson was named OHL Playoff MVP in 2022-23 after leading the Peterborough Petes to an OHL Championship.

His extensive OHL resume also includes a career 78-50-7 record with a 2.94 GAA and .904 save percentage, as well as being named to the OHL Second and Third All-Star Teams one time each.

A two-time OHL Champion with experience in two Memorial Cups, Simpson's history in high pressure games should help him adapt well to pro hockey.

With Linus Ullmark and Anton Forsberg set to be the tandem for the Senators, Simpson will compete with Leevi Meriläinen and pending RFAs Kevin Mandolese and Mads Søgaard for playing time.
