The Philadelphia Flyers announced they have placed forward Anthony Richard on waivers for the purpose of loaning him to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
Richard has two goals and six points in 15 games for the Flyers while playing just over 12 minutes per game after being recalled on Jan. 22.
The 28-year-old has eight goals and 19 points in 18 games for Lehigh Valley this season.
The move is likely a way for the Flyers to open up spots in the lineup for newly acquired forwards Andrei Kuzmenko and Jakob Pelletier.
Should he clear waivers Richard will provide a big boost for the Phantoms who currently sit fifth in the Atlantic Division.
The Trois-Rivieres, Que., native signed a two-year contract with the Flyers that carries a $775,000 cap hit in July. He spent most of last season with the Providence Bruins, recording 55 points in 59 games.
Originally a fourth round selection of the Nashville Predators in 2015, Richard has 319 points in 499 AHL games over parts of 10 seasons.
