As initially reported by Tony Androckitis of Inside AHL Hockey in July and Anthony Di Marco of Daily Faceoff last week goaltender Alexei Kolosov is not expected to return to Lehigh Valley of the AHL or to Philadelphia Flyers training camp this season.
Originally selected in the third round of the 2021 draft by Philadelphia, Kolosov spent most of last season with Dinamo Minsk of the KHL before coming to North America and playing two games for Lehigh Valley.
In 120 career KHL games with Dinamo Minsk Kolosov had a 49-56-10 record with a .909 SV% and 2.56 GAA. He had a 1-1 record with a .885 SV% and 3.03 GAA in his two AHL starts.
Two years ago the Flyers had a similar situation after goaltender Ivan Fedotov remained in Russia after forced military service, in which his contract was delayed a year. Di Marco suggests a similar thing could happen to Kolosov.
Kolosov was not included in the Philadelphia Flyers rookie camp roster.
The 22-year-old has appeared internationally for Belarus in over 20 contests, winning both a WJC D1A bronze and gold medal. He took home best goaltender and top player on team honors at the 2022 tournament.
Parker Gahagen, Cal Petersen, and Keith Petruzzelli will compete for playing time with Lehigh Valley.
