The 23-year-old notched four goals and seven points in three games last season.
Gushchin picked up two points in a win over the San Diego Gulls on Mar. 19, scored two goals and added two assists in a 8-6 win over the Bakersfield Condors on Mar. 22 before adding a goal in another win over the Condors on Mar. 23.
The Yekaterinburg, Rus., native is now up to 25 goals and 42 points in 45 games this season. He has also played in 10 games for the San Jose Sharks this season, picking up one assist.
A third round pick of the Sharks in 2020, Gushchin has 67 goals and 141 points in 171 career AHL games, he represented the Pacific Division at the AHL All-Star Game last season.
Gushchin has two goals and five points in 16 career NHL games.
After his big performances this week the Barracuda are now in fifth place in the Pacific Division, just one point back of third place Abbotsford and fourth place Coachella Valley.
