Springfield Thunderbirds goaltender Colten Ellis has been named AHL Player of the Week for the week ending Mar. 9.
Ellis made three appearances this week after signing a two-year, two-way contract extension with the Blues. He picked up two wins and stopped 95 of the 97 shots he faced. He shutout the Charlotte Checkers 4-0 on Mar. 4 before entering the game in relief against Charlotte on Mar. 5. He then made 39 saves in a 2-1 win over the Providence Bruins on Mar. 8.
The Whycocomagh, N.S., native has a 20-7-3 record with a 2.36 GAA and league-leading .928 SP with two shutouts in 32 appearances with Springfield this season.
The 24-year-old has a career AHL record of 28-19-5 with a 2.69 GAA and .922 SP in 54 appearances. He was a member of Canada's 2025 Spengler Cup team.
A third round selection of the St. Louis Blues in 2019, Ellis had a fantastic finish to his QMJHL career before continuing his dominance in the ECHL, with his new deal it is evident St. Louis views hi mas a valuable piece moving forward.
